Introducing: 365 Designs

Starting Jan 1st 2010 I’ll be designing something everyday, and posting it on a new blog called '365 Designs'. I’ll also be tweeting each design using the #daily365 tag from my normal twitter account (@Ogvidius) rather than setting up a new one.
I was inspired to start this challenge by this awesome article:
Written by Jad Limcaco of Design Informer and Jad Graphics.
The idea is that, by designing something small every day you can get a lot of practise in, as well as having to keep ideas flowing every day. It's also a great way to practise not just the designing skills, but the skill of thinking of ideas, and having to think of a new one each day!

Evolution of the Ogvidius Website Design

If you follow me on Twitter, then you'll have probably heard a lot about the website redesign. It's still in progress and set for a new year release. But I thought in the mean time I would take a look back at all the previous designs of the website. From the initial ideas and designs to the one that I'm currently working on.

Tutorial: Guild Wars Green Screen Texmod effect from start to finish

SOFTWARE USED: Texmod, Guild Wars, Fraps, Photoshop/Paint,
Making and watching machinima is always intersting. Seeing what people can do with a game is always very entertaining. One of the most machinima’d games (besides Halo 3) would be Guild Wars. With a huge choice of locations, characters and actions, it makes a great movie-making platform. But the game can only take you so far. If you want to create some real master-class entertainment with the game, at some point or another, you’re going to need to use the texmod chroma key effect. What you do with it is up to you, but here’s how you do it.

Christmas is coming...

Christmas is rapidly approaching, so I decided to celebrate with a festive blog post.

First up, I made a Christmas song a couple of days ago. A kind of chillout version of 'Carol of the Bells'. You can hear it here. It's inspired by the Thrice version, which can be found here.

Secondly, I was asked to design a Christmas card last week, and it's actually been really challenging. As a graphic designers I have an uncontrolable obsession with making things look nice, and I really struggled with designing a Christmas card that was Christmassy, but not cheesy.

The blog is launched

After years (well, months) of wanting to start a blog and start blogging to my heart's content, I've decided to go and do it. Today marks the day of the start of 'Ogvidius Design Blog'. I'll be posting tutorials, inspirations, ramblings, interesting findings, updates, news and more.

I'll be blogging mostly about what I'm interested in, which includes: Web design, Graphic Design, Film Making, Animation, Gaming, Music and other such things. So if you have similar interests, you should enjoy this blog! Check back here soon for some actual posts, rather than just a post about me posting at some point in the future.

I decided to go for Blogger instead of wordpress because it was much simpler, quicker and free! Maybe one day I'll move to wordpress, but for now, Blogger works fine.

So, thanks for reading and check back soon. In the mean time, you can check out my website, ogvidius.com or follow me on twitter @ogvidius
